Boiler feed water treatment
The existing ion exchange plant at Kelvin Power Station could no longer fulfill demand.
PROXA commissioned and delivered a reverse osmosis demineralisation unit to the power stations within 6 weeks of the order being placed. The advantage of the reverse osmosis system, among many others, is reduced chemical consumption, reduced chemical spills and a significantly lower salt load to the environment.
HOW PROXA ADDED VALUE
- The unit was fitted into a limited space without interrupting operation of the power station.
- In another innovation, PROXA employed the reject stream from the desalination unit to transport ash from the boilers to the ash system, saving additional raw water.
- Flow rate 1220 kl/day
- Conductivity 10 microS/cm
- Availability 95%
- Dual media filtration
- Reverse Osmosis (RO)
- Mixed bed
By placing highly experienced personnel at the site we were able to deliver up-time and quality to the most stringent requirements. This was underpinned by our proven capabilities to design, implement, operate and maintain critical water treatment infrastructure in various process industries.
