PROXA is honoured to be working together with the City of Cape Town to help deliver a sustainable solution to the water scarcity crisis that has gripped the South African city.
PROXA, together with joint venture partners Water Solutions, has been awarded the contracts for two of seven sea water desalination projects that have been earmarked as part of the first phase of the City’s Additional Water Supply Programme.
Site preparation for the Monwabisi desalination plant, the City’s flagship project, is under way. It is anticipated that the first phase will generate two million litres of drinking water per day and will be fed into the reticulation system by March 2018.
The second phase of 5 million litres will follow on after a further nine weeks. Site preparation for the Strandfontein plant is set to commence which will also produce 7 million litres of water per day when in full production.
