EFFLUENT TREATMENT PLANT

ENABLES PIRATE LIFE CRAFT BREWERS TO PRACTICE THEIR CRAFT UNABATED

THE CHALLENGE

After a successful installation of an RO at Pirate Life Brewing’s Hindmarsh facility in 2017. PROXA were contacted when the new brewery facility located in Port Adelaide, required a wastewater treatment plant. This new plant was needed to treat the brewery effluent prior to discharge into the local council trade waste sewer. The new brewery with 8million litres per annum brewing capacity was fast-tracked and was delivered in only 5 months. The plant had to have a small footprint and be able to treat a variable effluent stream.

OUR SOLUTION

PROXA designed and constructed a bespoke wastewater treatment plant incorporating a novel solids-liquid separator with fully automated pH correction and delivered the plant in 12 weeks. The wastewater treatment plant is equipped with cloud based trade waste quality monitoring providing real-time feedback on plant performance.

HOW PROXA ADDED VALUE

PROXA’s experience in delivering turnkey projects within a short time frame, coupled with our local knowledge of the feed river water quality, meant that we were able to work closely with the client to achieve the winery’s long-term sustainability objectives. PROXA also carried out the associated construction and civil works and holds a service and maintenance contract.

PERFORMANCE TARGET

  • Flow rate between 4 – 15 L/s
  • TSS removal up to 80%
  • pH 6.0 – 10.0

PROCESS

  • Solid screening
  • Sludge thickening & dewatering
  • pH correction

PROCESS RELIABILITY

Flexibility of the process was instrumental to the success of the plant. PROXA provided a reliable wastewater treatment solution that can manage variability in both effluent quantity and quality.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTI ON

PROXA successfully integrated a solids-liquid separation process incorporating the processing techniques of screening, thickening and sludge dewatering into a single unit process, including raw feed buffering and pH correction dosing control within the available footprint providing robust wastewater solution. The effluent treatment helps to keep the breweries solid wastes and BOD low enough to comply with local government regulations.
