What we do

Established in 1986, PROXA is a specialised water solution provider of sustainable water services within the municipal, industrial and commercial sectors.

PROXA’s range of services cover the entire water cycle from consulting and design, research and development, engineering and construction, and plant modernisation to operational management, maintenance, repairs, after-market service, chemicals, consumables and spares. Our solutions are optimal, reliable and efficiently implemented, while our in-house expertise, extensive research and access to leading global technologies enable us to deliver objective solutions tailored to address our client’s unique set of needs.

PROXA’s team of skilled engineers harness the latest in technological advances to the ultimate benefit of our clients. We modernise existing water and wastewater treatment plants or design and construct new ones – incorporating the latest standards, technologies, regulations and sustainability practices.

Our 3500m2 technology centre, PROLAB© is fully equipped with both bench scale and skid-mounted pilot plant equipment that is capable of testing a diverse range of unit operations, on- or off-site to enhance confidence in process selection and performance. The centre also performs water analysis, membrane autopsies and projection modelling and is home to one of our most valuable assets, the R&D division. In addition to our own pioneering work, PROXA also collaborates with the University of Cape Town, University of Stellenbosch, Delft University in the Netherlands and the Water Research Commission (SA), Coaltech, Sasol and Eskom, among others.

Training

PROXA provides comprehensive training programmes – not only within our own operations – but also as a service to our clients.

The courses we offer are structured at different levels and, where possible, are accredited by the relevant authorities. At an internal level, all PROXA staff members participate in ongoing training, coaching and mentorship initiatives to ensure they remain motivated and continue to competently meet the requirements expected of them in an ever-changing industry.

PROXA recognises our responsibility in terms of investing in the lives of individuals and communities in our area of operation. We strive to make a meaningful difference to the lives of others. To maximise the effectiveness of our corporate social investment, we focus on uplifting and empowering the youth and on the reinvestment of financial benefits accrued during contracts into local communities, with the aim of stimulating local economic development opportunities or improving the quality of life of people in those communities.

Health & safety

We acknowledge health and safety as a non-negotiable part of our functions. Each and every project we undertake is done so with the highest priority towards excellence. We achieve this by developing, implementing and maintaining bespoke systems and programmes that are aligned with international standards and adhere to relevant legislation. Our training addresses health and safety issues, with particular focus on the handling, storage and usage of hazardous chemicals, first aid and emergency operating procedures, which are aligned to clients’ own standard procedures. We work together with our employees to actively foster a safe and healthy work environment for all members of our team including our clients, contractors, visitors and any other person who might be affected by our actions.

Proxa Water Celebrates Pr. Chsa Registration

PROXA is proud to announce that their National SHEQ Manager, Wally van de Venter, achieved his Pr. CHSA registration on the 11th of August. Wally is one of the first 65 individuals to achieve this notable status in South Africa.

The 2014 Construction Regulations require that projects over R40 million must work alongside a Construction Health and Safety Agent (CHSA). Furthermore, that Health and Safety agent must be registered with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) and carry the title Pr. CHSA. This is the highest of three levels that one can register for within the Health and Safety field and is based on qualifications and relevant experience.

Wally joined PROXA in August 2006 and his input on- and off-site is key in supporting the wastewater treatment specialist’s commitment to the sustainability of a high Health and Safety standard in construction. In short, it’s yet another way in which PROXA continually finds ways to do things even better.
